מָרַסPi. מֵירֵס (denom. of מֶרֶס fr. רסס) to crush; to rub; to stir. Esth. R. to I, 14 (play on מֶרֶס ib.) שהיה מְמָרֵס את העופות he prepared the hash of birds; ib. (play on מרסנא, ib.) שהיה ממרס את הסלתות he stirred the flour (making dough). Ib. מי ממ׳ לפניך את הדם (not העופות, v. infra) who will stir before thee the blood (of the sacrifices)?; מי ממ׳ … הסלתות who will stir the flour (for the meal offerings)? Ib.
